Hooks Cling To Victory As Hound Dogs Nearly Erase 4-Run Deficit

Hooks built a 4-run lead in the third inning and then held off Hound Dogs's charge for a 5-4 victory on Sunday. Hound Dogs closed the gap by scoring on a single, a single, a sacrifice fly, and a sacrifice fly.

Hooks got on the board in the top of the third inning after Michael Landeck doubled, scoring one run, Jaxson Berry singled, scoring one run, and Gabe Baker doubled, scoring two runs.

Jonathan Bermudez earned the win for Hooks. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking two. Cade Willingham took the loss for Hound Dogs. The pitcher went seven innings, surrendering five runs on 10 hits, striking out six and walking five. Tim Abercrombie collected the save. Gabe Baker and Joshua Holloway each appeared in relief for Hooks.

Hooks tallied 10 hits in the game. Gabe Baker led Hooks with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The third baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Brandon Collins, Brayden Berry, and Gabe Baker each collected two hits for Hooks. Hooks turned two double plays in the game.

Chris Neel went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Hound Dogs in hits. Ryne Bainter, Cade Willingham, and Chris Neel each drove in one run for Hound Dogs. Hound Dogs had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Ryne Bainter, J Martinez, and Lance Stadler led the team with two free passes each. Zachary King stole two bases. Hound Dogs turned one double play in the game.

Next up for Hooks is a game against Brew Jays on Thursday.
