
Hooks fell to Cubs 4-3 on Sunday at Carroll Senior High School.
A single by Garrett Puyear put Cubs on the board in the top of the first.
Hooks captured the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the first after Daniel Zamora doubled down the left field line, and Matt Bailey walked, each scoring one run.
B Rameriz (Hosea) singled down the left field line, which helped Cubs tie the game at two in the top of the third.
Hooks took the lead in the bottom of the third. Daniel Zamora doubled, scoring one run, to give Hooks the leg up, 3-2.
Cubs took the lead in the top of the fourth. An error scored two runs, to give Cubs the leg up, 4-3.
Garrett Puyear earned the win for Cubs. The hurler surrendered one hit and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking two. Daniel Zamora took the loss for Hooks. The pitcher went four innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out seven and walking four. Kadon Simmons led things off on the mound for Cubs. The hurler gave up three hits and two runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one.
Daniel Zamora drove the middle of the lineup, leading Hooks with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Hooks had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Luis Sotomayor and Steven Mock led the team with two bases on balls each.
Garrett Puyear and B Rameriz (Hosea) were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Cubs. Austin Arey, C Boring, Gillespie, Garrett Puyear, and B Rameriz (Hosea) each collected one hit for Cubs. Rob Pruitt led Cubs with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. Cubs stole four bases in the game. Cubs turned one double play in the game. Cubs didn't commit a single error in the field. Garrett Puyear had the most chances in the field with three.
