Hooks topped Hound Dogs 8-7 on Sunday at McInnish Baseball Fields.

Hooks got on the board in the first inning after Nic Nelson homered to left field, scoring three runs.

Hound Dogs took the lead in the top of the second inning after Elexander McCray singled to center field, Zachary King singled down the left field line, Cade Willingham singled to left field, and Chris Neel singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Hound Dogs added one run in the third. Elexander McCray singled down the right field line, making the score 5-3.

Hooks captured the lead, 8-6, in the bottom of the fifth when Jaxson Berry hit a solo home run to left field, John Otterson doubled, scoring one run, and Daniel Zamora doubled, scoring two runs.

Jonathan Bermudez earned the win for Hooks. The pitcher allowed four hits and two runs over three innings, striking out two and walking two. Ryne Bainter took the loss for Hound Dogs. The pitcher went four innings, surrendering seven runs (five earned) on five hits, striking out four and walking two. Tim Abercrombie started on the mound for Hooks. The starter allowed seven hits and five runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking two. Daniel Zamora collected the save.

John Otterson and Daniel Zamora were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Hooks. Nic Nelson drove the middle of the lineup, leading Hooks with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-1 on the day. Hooks turned one double play in the game.

Hound Dogs tallied 11 hits in the game. Elexander McCray, the number nine hitter for Hound Dogs, led the way with two runs batted in. Elexander McCray went 3-for-3 on the day. Cade Willingham, Chris Neel, and Sergio Esparza each collected multiple hits for Hound Dogs. Hound Dogs turned one double play in the game.
