Austin Arey took the loss for Cubs. The pitcher went seven innings, surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on 14 hits, striking out five and walking one. Javi Cantu appeared in relief for Hooks.

Austin Arey and Jake Fleckenstein each collected two hits for Cubs. Gillespie, Brendan Taylor, and Jarrett Jones each drove in one run for Cubs. Cubs had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. C Boring, Garrett Puyear, and Jarrett Jones led the team with two walks each.
