Hooks Claim Victory Over Cubs

Hooks beat Cubs 7-3 on Sunday at McInnish Baseball Fields.

Cubs were the first to get on the board in the second when an error scored one run.

Dustin Thompson singled on an 0-2 count, which helped Hooks tie the game at one in the bottom of the second.

Hooks jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Daniel Zamora singled to right field, and Gabe Torres singled to the left side of the infield, each scoring one run.

Gabe Torres earned the win for Hooks. The hurler gave up four hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking one. M Hinson took the loss for Cubs. The pitcher went three innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out one and walking two. Austen Govea collected the save.

Hooks accumulated 10 hits in the game. Gabe Torres and Daniel Zamora were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Hooks while hitting back-to-back. Gabe Torres drove the middle of the lineup, leading Hooks with three runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Hooks turned one double play in the game.

J Jones led the team with one run batted in. A Arey went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Cubs in hits. Cubs turned three double plays in the game.

Next up for Hooks is a game against Bulldogs on Sunday.
