Nelson Puts On Strong Contact Performance As Hooks Take The Win Over Wolves

Nic Nelson collected four hits in four at bats, as Hooks defeated Wolves 8-2 on Saturday. Nic Nelson doubled in the first inning, doubled in the sixth inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the third inning.

Gabe Torres struck out 14 batters on the day. The pitcher also allowed two hits and two runs over six innings while walking two.

Hooks opened the scoring in the first after Nic Nelson doubled, scoring one run.

A double by Dom Coro, a wild pitch, and a single by Gabe Torres helped Hooks extend their early lead in the third.

Ty Richardson took the loss for Wolves. The hurler went five innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits, striking out five and walking three. Dustin Thompson pitched one inning of no-run ball for Hooks in relief. The righty allowed one hit, striking out two and walking one.

Hooks amassed 11 hits in the game. Dustin Thompson and Gabe Torres each collected multiple hits for Hooks. Dustin Thompson and Gabe Torres each stole multiple bases for Hooks. Hooks ran wild on the base paths, accumulating six stolen bases for the game.

Ayden Burgos went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Jarronn Daniels, Tanner Oates, and Ayden Burgos each collected one hit for Wolves.

Hooks will travel to Wolves for their next game on Sunday.
