Nic Nelson collected four hits in four at bats, as Hooks defeated Bandits 13-4 on Sunday at McInnish Baseball Fields. Nic Nelson doubled in the first inning, tripled in the second inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the fourth inning.
Hooks jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Nic Nelson doubled, scoring two runs, and Steven Mock grounded out, scoring one run.
Hooks added five more runs in the top of the second inning on three hits. Daniel Zamora homered to left field, scoring two runs, Matt Bailey tripled, scoring one run, Ethan Lopez drew a walk, scoring one run, and one run scored on another play.
Dylan Kuester earned the win for Hooks. The starter allowed three hits and four runs (one earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out five and walking four. Garrett B took the loss for Bandits. The starter went one and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on four hits, striking out two and walking two. Matt Bailey pitched one and two-thirds innings of zero-run ball for Hooks in relief. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out none and walking none.
Matt Bailey collected two hits for Hooks in three at bats. Ethan Lopez paced Hooks with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Matt Bailey stole two bases.
Garrett B led the team with one run batted in. Cam C, Daniel R, and Devin H each collected one hit for Bandits. Bandits turned one double play in the game.
