Hooks Defeat Rockies On Back Of Clutch Display From Nelson

Nic Nelson drove in four runs on three hits to lead Hooks past Rockies 15-4 on Sunday at Texas Star Complex Arlington Field. Nic Nelson doubled in the second inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the third inning, scoring two.

Hooks scored eight runs in the third inning on the way to victory.  Nic Nelson doubled, scoring two runs, Dom Coro singled, scoring one run, Jonathan Bermudez singled, scoring two runs, Gonzalez induced Cody Andersen to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Gonzalez induced Josh Hopkins to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored.

Hooks got on the board in the top of the first inning after Hooks scored on a wild pitch, and Dustin Thompson singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Hooks scored five runs on five hits in the top of the second inning. Nic Nelson doubled, scoring two runs, Daniel Zamora singled, scoring one run, Dustin Thompson singled, scoring one run, and Cody Andersen drew a walk, scoring one run.

Daniel Zamora earned the win for Hooks. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out six and walking none. Stults took the loss for Rockies. The starting pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on five hits, striking out two and walking four. Dustin Thompson collected the save. Brandon Collins appeared in relief for Hooks.

Hooks tallied 13 hits in the game. Dustin Thompson and Daniel Zamora each collected multiple hits for Hooks. John Otterson paced Hooks with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the game.

Earp led Rockies with two hits in three at bats. Gonzalez stole two bases. Rockies turned one double play in the game.
