Bats were blistered on Sunday at Carter-Riverside High School, but Hooks couldn't quite get the job done against Hound Dogs and lost 15-11. Hound Dogs collected 17 hits, while Hooks had 12.
Hound Dogs got on the board in the top of the first inning after C Willingham doubled, scoring two runs, and J Willingham singled, scoring one run.
Hound Dogs added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after C Hudson doubled, S Esparza singled down the left field line, C Neel doubled down the left field line, and C Willingham singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Hooks scored one run in the bottom of the second on a solo home run to right field by Nick Hekkert.
Hound Dogs scored seven runs on five hits in the top of the fourth inning. C Neel doubled, scoring one run, C Willingham singled, scoring one run, J Willingham singled, scoring one run, A Vetrano was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, D Estrada singled, scoring one run, K Myers drew a walk, scoring one run, and Luis Sotomayor induced C Hudson to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
Hooks scored nine runs on eight hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. John Otterson doubled, scoring one run, Matt Bailey singled, scoring two runs, Luis Sotomayor doubled, scoring two runs, Nick Hekkert singled, scoring one run, Steven Boots singled, scoring two runs, and Brandon Collins singled, scoring one run.
K Myers earned the win for Hound Dogs. The hurler surrendered six hits and six runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three. Brandon Collins took the loss for Hooks. The hurler went two innings, giving up seven runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking two.
Hooks amassed 12 hits in the game. Matt Bailey went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Hooks in hits. Luis Sotomayor, Nick Hekkert, Steven Boots, and Matt Bailey each drove in two runs for Hooks.
Hound Dogs tallied 17 hits in the game. C Willingham drove the middle of the lineup, leading Hound Dogs with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. C Willingham, J Willingham, and C Neel each collected three hits for Hound Dogs.
