Hooks Trounce Tejas

Hooks easily dispatched Tejas on Sunday at Northwest Community Park, 8-0.

Hooks jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Nic Nelson homered to center field, scoring three runs, and Austen Govea hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Hooks added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after John Otterson doubled down the right field line, Daniel Zamora doubled to center field, Steven Mock hit a sacrifice fly, and Jonathan Bermudez doubled, each scoring one run.

Jonathan Bermudez earned the win for Hooks. The starter surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking two. David took the loss for Tejas. The starting pitcher went one inning, allowing eight runs on seven hits, striking out one and walking two.

Nic Nelson drove the middle of the lineup, leading Hooks with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-2 on the day. John Otterson, Daniel Zamora, and Nic Nelson each collected two hits for Hooks. Hooks turned one double play in the game. Hooks didn't commit a single error in the field. Nick Zamora had the most chances in the field with two.

Hooks will travel to Warriors for their next game on Sunday.
