Hooks couldn't keep up with Bulldogs and fell 15-2 on Sunday at Northwest Community Park.
Bulldogs got on the board in the top of the first inning after Alex Garcia grounded into a fielder's choice, Ryan Terrell singled to the left side of the infield, and Hooks committed an error, each scoring one run.
A ground out by Gage Crites, and a single by Garcia helped Bulldogs extend their early lead in the second.
Bulldogs scored seven runs on four hits in the top of the fifth inning. An error scored two runs, Jay Hernandez singled, scoring one run, Crites was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Tero Garza drew a walk, scoring one run, and Tyler Frailey singled, scoring two runs.
Luke Goodston earned the win for Bulldogs. The hurler surrendered six hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out nine and walking one. Daniel Zamora pitched three innings in relief for Hooks. The reliever gave up seven hits and eight runs (five earned) while, striking out three and walking three. Jonathan Bermudez took the loss for Hooks. The starter went two innings, giving up seven runs (five earned) on four hits, striking out three and walking two.
Hooks piled up nine hits in the game. Josh Hopkins led Hooks with one run batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Steven Mock went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Hooks in hits.
Bulldogs piled up 11 hits in the game. Garcia drove the middle of the lineup, leading Bulldogs with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Frailey and Terrell each collected two hits for Bulldogs. Hernandez and Joe Solis each stole multiple bases for Bulldogs. Bulldogs stole seven bases in the game.
Hooks will travel to Mudcats for their next game on Sunday.
