Steven Mock drove in four runs on three hits to lead Hooks past Mudcats 20-5 on Sunday at McInnish Sports Complex. Mock tripled in the sixth scoring two, walked in the second scoring one, singled in the third scoring one, and singled in the fifth scoring one.

Hooks got on the board in the top of the first inning after Daniel Zamora tripled to right field, and Nick Hekkert singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Hooks added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Mock walked, Nic Nelson walked, Zamora walked, and Hekkert singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Hooks added one run in the third. Mock singled down the right field line, making the score 7-1.

Hooks scored six runs on six hits in the top of the sixth inning. Steven Boots singled, scoring one run, Cody Andersen doubled, scoring one run, Rodney McDaniel singled, scoring one run, Mock tripled, scoring two runs, and Luis Sotomayor singled, scoring one run.

Brandon Collins earned the win for Hooks. The pitcher surrendered nine hits and five runs (four earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking two. Gus took the loss for Mudcats. The starting pitcher went one and one-third innings, giving up six runs on six hits, striking out one and walking five.

Hooks amassed 21 hits in the game. McDaniel, Mock, and Hekkert each collected three hits for Hooks. Sotomayor, Collins, Andersen, and Zamora each collected multiple hits for Hooks. Nelson paced Hooks with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Hooks turned one double play in the game.

Mudcats tallied nine hits in the game. Bush went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Mudcats in hits. Robert, Bush, Chris, Slava, and Travis each drove in one run for Mudcats.
