Daniel Zamora Drives 4 Runners Home In Hooks Victory Over Devil Rays

Daniel Zamora drove in four runs on two hits to lead Hooks past Devil Rays 16-7 on Sunday at Lively Park. Zamora hit a home run to left field in the fifth inning, scoring three runs, and hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning, scoring one.

Hooks rallied for the victory despite trailing 7-1 in the third.

Devil Rays got on the board in the top of the first inning after M Gunnels singled, scoring two runs, C Thompson grounded out, scoring one run, J Youngman tripled, scoring one run, and O Viera singled, scoring one run.

Devil Rays added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Hooks committed an error, and S Quinones singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Hooks flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on six hits to take the lead, 8-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Matt Bailey that drove in two.

Hooks scored eight runs on five hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Zamora homered to left field, scoring three runs, Lane Hunt singled, scoring one run, Brandon Collins singled, scoring one run, Steven Mock drew a walk, scoring one run, Nic Nelson drew a walk, scoring one run, and Zamora hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Zamora earned the win for Hooks. The pitcher allowed three hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one. B Koch took the loss for Devil Rays. The starter went four innings, allowing eight runs on 14 hits, striking out three and walking two. Dylan Kuester started on the bump for Hooks. The hurler allowed seven hits and seven runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking two. Cody Andersen tossed one inning of zero-run ball for Hooks in relief. The hurler allowed zero hits, striking out two and walking one.

Hooks tallied 19 hits in the game. Hunt, Hooks's number seven hitter, led the team with four hits in four at-bats. Rodney McDaniel, John Otterson, Bailey, Andersen, and Nelson each collected multiple hits for Hooks. Nelson led Hooks with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Hooks turned one double play in the game.

Devil Rays accumulated 10 hits in the game. Gunnels drove the middle of the lineup, leading Devil Rays with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Viera and Gunnels each collected two hits for Devil Rays. K Shavers stole two bases.

Hooks will travel to Pineapples for their next game on Sunday.
