Hooks Fall After Big Comeback By Hound Dogs

Hooks lost to Hound Dogs 7-6 on Sunday at Lively Park even though they once led by five runs.

Hooks got on the board in the third inning after Nic Nelson hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Hound Dogs flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring seven runs on six hits to take the lead, 7-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by C Hudson that drove in one.

A Ventrano earned the win for Hound Dogs. The hurler allowed one hit and one run over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one. Dylan Kuester took the loss for Hooks. The pitcher went six innings, surrendering seven runs (three earned) on 11 hits, striking out five and walking none. C Willingham stepped on the mound first for Hound Dogs. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and five runs (three earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out three and walking four.

Ethan Lopez led Hooks with three runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup.  John Otterson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Hooks in hits.

Hound Dogs amassed 12 hits in the game. J Willingham, A Ventrano, and S Esparza each collected two hits for Hound Dogs. C Neel, A Ventrano, S Esparza, and C Hudson each drove in one run for Hound Dogs.

Next up for Hooks is a game at Bulldogs on Sunday.
