Hooks defeated Bulldogs 5-3 on Sunday at J.W. Dunlop Sports Center.

Hooks got on the board in the first inning after Steven Mock singled, scoring one run.

Hooks added one run in the second after Nick Zamora singled.

Dylan Cortez homered to center field, which helped Bulldogs tie the game at two in the top of the fourth.

Bulldogs took the lead in the top of the fifth. An error scored one run, to give Bulldogs the leg up, 3-2.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Hooks went back into the lead after John Otterson doubled, and Daniel Zamora singled, each scoring one run.

Hooks scored one run in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run to center field by Carson Barker on an 0-2 count.

Jonathan Bermudez earned the win for Hooks. The pitcher allowed two hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking three. Dylan Cortez took the loss for Bulldogs. The hurler went six innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on seven hits, striking out four and walking none. Daniel Zamora collected the save.

John Otterson and Daniel Zamora were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Hooks while hitting back-to-back. Carson Barker, Nick Zamora, Steven Mock, John Otterson, and Daniel Zamora each drove in one run for Hooks. Nick Zamora stole two bases.

Dylan Cortez drove the middle of the lineup, leading Bulldogs with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Joe Solis and Dylan Cortez each collected one hit for Bulldogs. Anthony Maynard stole three bases. Bulldogs turned two double plays in the game.

Hooks will travel to Bulldogs for their next game on Wednesday.
