Two Pitchers Work Together as Hooks Defeat D-Backs in Shut-Out - 11.18.22

Hooks defeated D-Backs 1-0 on Friday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Tim Abercrombie struck out Garrett Shannon to finish off the game.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Hooks pitchers struck out 11, while D-Backs pitchers sat down six.

One bright spot for D-Backs was a single by Mitchell in the fifth inning.

Matt Bailey was the winning pitcher for Hooks. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on one hit over five innings, striking out five. Abercrombie threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Abercrombie recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Hooks.

Puyeor took the loss for D-Backs. Puyeor lasted four innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out two and walking zero.

Jordan Stickler led Hooks with one hit in three at bats.

Mitchell went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead D-Backs in hits.
