Hooks Jump Out to Early Lead in Victory Over the Devil Rays - 10.2.22

Hooks defeated Devil Rays 7-2 thanks to a strong start. Hooks scored on a triple by Daniel Zamora, a sacrifice fly by Ryan Terrell, a single by David Poe, and a double by Nick Zamora in the second inning.

After Devil Rays scored one run in the top of the sixth, Hooks answered with one of their own. Devil Rays scored when B Koch was hit by a pitch, driving in a run. Hooks then answered when Coleman Gamble singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

Hooks pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning. In the second Zamora tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Terrell's sac fly scored one run for Hooks, Poe singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, and Zamora doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.

Tim Abercrombie earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Hooks. The ace lasted seven innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out 11.

C Thompson was on the mound for Devil Rays. The hurler surrendered five runs on five hits over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Koch threw four innings out of the bullpen.

Hooks totaled nine hits in the game. Steven Mock and Gamble all had multiple hits for Hooks. Gamble and Mock all had two hits to lead Hooks.

S Nice led Devil Rays with two hits in three at bats. Devil Rays was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Koch made the most plays with one.
