Nelson’s Clutch Hitting Propels Hooks To Victory Over Bombers

Nic Nelson drove in six runs on five hits to lead Hooks past Bombers 15-2 on Saturday at Lively Park. Nic Nelson singled in the first scoring two, hit a home run to center field in the sixth scoring two, doubled in the second scoring one, and doubled in the fourth scoring one.

Hooks opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Hooks first got on the board when Nic Nelson singled, scoring two runs.

A single by Daniel Zamora, a double by Nic Nelson, and a single by Rodney McDaniel helped Hooks extend their early lead in the second.

Hooks scored five runs on three hits in the top of the sixth inning. A dropped third strike scored one run, Nick Zamora singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Nic Nelson homered to center field, scoring two runs.

Tanner Allred earned the win for Hooks. They gave up four hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Xander took the loss for Bombers. The starting pitcher went six innings, allowing 15 runs (four earned) on 13 hits, striking out five and walking four. Jonathan Bermudez tossed two innings of shutout ball for Hooks in relief. They surrendered one hit, striking out three and walking none.

Hooks accumulated 13 hits in the game. Rodney McDaniel and Nick Zamora each collected multiple hits for Hooks. Nick Zamora stole three bases. Hooks ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game. Hooks turned one double play in the game.

Pineda drove the middle of the lineup, leading Bombers with two runs batted in. They went 2-for-3 on the day.
