Hooks Fall To Toros On Walk-Off

A walk-off left Hooks on the wrong end of a 4-3 defeat to Toros on Saturday at Texas Star Baseball Legends Field. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run.

Hooks lost despite out-hitting Toros seven to five. Dustin Thompson and Nick Zamora each collected two hits for Hooks.

Toros were the first to get on the board in the first when Billy McDaniel Jr doubled, scoring one run.

Rodney McDaniel singled, which helped Hooks tie the game at one in the top of the second.

In the top of the fifth, Hooks broke up the tie when Steven Mock drew a walk, scoring one run. Then a wild pitch followed to extend the lead to 3-1.

Toros jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning after Billy McDaniel grounded out, and Hooks committed an error, each scoring one run.

Ryan Vera started on the mound for Hooks. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and four runs (zero earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking none. Ben Russell stepped on the mound first for Toros. The starting pitcher surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out none and walking one.

Rodney McDaniel led Hooks with one run batted in. The first baseman went 1-for-3 on the day.

Gabriel Kubankin, Billy McDaniel Jr, Adrian Pena, Jose Rodriguez, and Dylan Garcia each collected one hit for Toros. Billy McDaniel led Toros with two runs batted in.

Hooks play at home on Sunday against Toros in their next game.
