Mock Drives In 4 To Lead Hooks Past Elite

Steven Mock drove in four runs on three hits to lead Hooks past Elite 17-3 on Sunday at Carter-Riverside High School. Steven Mock singled in the sixth scoring two, hit a sacrifice fly in the first scoring one, and singled in the fourth scoring one.

Hooks got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Steven Mock hit a sacrifice fly, and Jonathan Bermudez singled, each scoring one run.

Hooks added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after John Otterson hit a sacrifice fly, and Daniel Zamora singled, each scoring one run.

Hooks extended their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI singles by Josh Hopkins and Nick Zamora.

Hooks scored seven runs on seven hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Nic Nelson doubled, scoring one run, Steven Mock singled, scoring one run, Josh Hopkins tripled, scoring two runs, Nolan Rodin singled, scoring one run, Nick Zamora doubled, scoring one run, and John Otterson singled, scoring one run.

Dylan Kuester earned the win for Hooks. They allowed five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking three. Bush took the loss for Elite. The starting pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, giving up 13 runs (six earned) on 14 hits, striking out three and walking four. Jonathan Bermudez appeared in relief for Hooks.

Hooks accumulated 17 hits in the game. Steven Mock and Josh Hopkins each collected three hits for Hooks. Daniel Zamora, Nolan Rodin, John Otterson, Jonathan Bermudez, and Nick Zamora each collected multiple hits for Hooks. Josh Hopkins stole two bases. Hooks had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Hooks stole five bases in the game. Hooks turned one double play in the game. Hooks were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Nick Zamora had the most chances in the field with 12.

Bush, Cam, and Travis each drove in one run for Elite. Josh W led Elite with three hits in three at bats.
