Hooks Stymied By Toros

Hooks had trouble keeping up with Toros in a 9-3 loss on Sunday at Cravens Park.

Toros jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Adrian Pena hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Caleb Soliz doubled, scoring two runs.

Ben Russell earned the win for Toros. They allowed six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking three. Jonathan Bermudez took the loss for Hooks. They went four innings, giving up four runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking five.

Coleman Gamble and Nick Zamora each collected two hits for Hooks. Jonathan Bermudez, Nick Zamora, and Luis Sotomayor each drove in one run for Hooks. Hooks turned two double plays in the game.

Toros tallied 11 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Clint Ford led Toros with three hits in four at bats. Adrian Pena and Caleb Soliz each drove in two runs for Toros. Toros had a strong eye at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. Casey Dickerman, Billy McDaniel Jr, and Kyler Strode led the team with two bases on balls each. Toros turned two double plays in the game.
