Hooks Roll Past Wolves

Hooks easily dispatched Wolves on Sunday, 16-2.

Hooks got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Steven Mock walked, Luis Sotomayor walked, Jonathan Bermudez walked, Rodney McDaniel was struck by a pitch, Josh Hopkins was struck by a pitch, Thomas Cain walked, Nick Zamora walked, and John Otterson was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.

Hooks added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Luis Sotomayor tripled, and Rodney McDaniel singled, each scoring one run.

Hooks added one run in the third after Hooks scored on a passed ball.

Jonathan Bermudez earned the win for Hooks. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out four and walking five. Will Thornhill took the loss for Wolves. The starting pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, giving up eight runs on zero hits, striking out one and walking eight. Luis Sotomayor tossed one inning of no-run ball for Hooks in relief. They allowed zero hits, striking out three and walking one.

John Otterson drove the middle of the lineup, leading Hooks with four runs batted in. They went 2-for-3 on the day. John Otterson and Luis Sotomayor each collected two hits for Hooks. Hooks had patience at the plate, tallying 14 walks for the game. Steven Mock and Thomas Cain led the team with three free passes each. Nick Zamora stole two bases. Hooks turned two double plays in the game.

Justin Unger went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Wolves in hits. Brian Birchett paced Wolves with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game.

Hooks will travel to Vaqueros for their next game on Sunday.
